Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Program, the Child and Youth Worker at the Shoniker Clinic will bring both a specialist and generalist role to the team. Your main job will be to support children and youth with mental health challenges. You will also work closely with their families.
Responsibilities:
- Perform assessments for children and youth.
- Manage cases and guide families through the mental health system.
- Facilitate groups and provide individual support
- Use relational care to build strong bonds with families.
- Create partnerships with other local mental health services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child & Youth Work, Child and Youth Diploma, or related mental health field education
- Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in child and adolescent mental health, preferably within an outpatient clinic setting and with individuals experiencing youth with mental health struggles
- Previous experience in assessment, crisis intervention, and the planning and development of therapeutic programming in an outpatient child & adolescent mental health clinic
- Proven excellent communication (English oral and written), and interpersonal skills dealing effectively with clients, families and community partners
- Excellent knowledge of community resources, participating in liaison and referral
- Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation
- Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Scarborough Health Network’s comprehensive safety programs and practices
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
