Job Description
Position Summary
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for all aspects of departmental operations, including clinical operations, administrative functions, regulatory compliance, budget and fiscal accountability, strategic planning, process improvement, employee engagement, personnel management and service excellence. He/she must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatrics. . The manager serves as a liaison collaborating with all disciplines that interact with the Laboratory Department. He/she also abides by the Standards of Behavior and complies with departmental policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Education
• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or related area
• MT (ASCP or equivalent registry), HT or HLT (ASCP)
• Five years of clinical laboratory experience
• In-depth knowledge of the section's operations
Experience
- Five years laboratory experience with in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations
License/Registration/Certifications
• Certification by an acceptable laboratory registry as an MT, or MLS

Preferred Experience
• Experience working in a large hospital laboratory setting as well as previous supervisory experience.

Core Job Responsibilities
• Performs all responsibilities related to revenue, expenses, budget, positions and FTEs to ensure financial accountability for all cost center(s). Reports documented variances to Director on a monthly or as needed basis. Complies with all instructions and adheres to any time frames in the budget calendars or budget instructions.
