Someone in this role would typically have a High School Diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of experience or a BS in Engineering Technology. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**
Some of your major responsibilities will include:
- Provide engineering support in the planning and implementation of EMI/EMC tests and general EMI/EMC testing activities.
- Provide technical support to the Test Director/Lab Manager as follows: operate test equipment, perform EMI/EMC tests, perform test setup and test operations, perform pre- and post-test activities such as generation of drawings of as-tested configurations, data reduction, and miscellaneous other tasks related to the testing activities.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for test equipment; interface with equipment suppliers and onsite maintenance personnel as needed.
- Help develop data analysis and post-processing methods; automate where possible.
- Support the operations team in the development of new test system capabilities.
- Help develop and implement appropriate quality measures and process improvement efforts.
- Help prepare project reports, presentations, and procedures.
- Perform EMI lab facility activities such as maintenance, and equipment calibration.
- Participate in pre-test planning, review test documents, prepare and deliver test data packages to the customer.
- Assist in the development of automated software for various EMI/EMC tests.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area and adhere to laboratory policies.
- Provide electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) analysis services for various programs including design and development review activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Typically requires a HS diploma and 5 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field.
- Familiarization with Test Equipment such as Spectrum & Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Current Probes ,Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, RF Amplifiers and DVMs.
- Familiarization with ESD requirements.
- Familiarization in a Lab environment.
- Ability to use Smartsheets
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions.
Ability to work weekends and/or after hours as needed.
PREFERRED:
- Experience in EMI/EMC testing and/or in an EMI/EMC Lab Environment.
- Familiarization with MIL-STD-461, Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic Interface Characteristics of Subsystems and Equipment.
- Working knowledge of ESD, FOD and controlled stock handling practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of RF systems and their operations.
- Handling of NASA Flight Hardware.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
