Outpatient Surgery Centers | UVA Health 

Deliver expert perioperative care in a setting designed for clinical excellence, predictable schedules, and professional growth. This Registered Nurse role within UVA Health’s Outpatient Surgery Centers allows you to practice in an OR environment while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

  • Surgical Care Riverside (SCR) 

The Role 

As a Registered Nurse in UVA Health’s Outpatient Surgery Centers, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties in a focused outpatient environment. This role balances efficiency with clinical rigor and allows nurses to deliver high-quality care in settings intentionally designed for safety, flow, and patient experience. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Deliver perioperative nursing care including preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative recovery 

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and fellow nurses to ensure safe and seamless procedures 

  • Apply evidence-based practice and standardized protocols to support patient safety and optimal outcomes 

  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and professional standards 

  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement 

What an average day looks like: 

  • Monday through Friday schedule with no nights, weekends or holidays and minimal call with incentive pay 

  • A consistent outpatient case mix that allows for preparation, efficiency, and clinical focus 

  • A collaborative OR environment with strong communication and shared ownership of outcomes 

  • Opportunities to serve in Charge RN roles, supporting daily operations while developing leadership and decision-making skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of nursing experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
