Job Description Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides assessment, management and outcome evaluation for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. The APRN serves as a resource to educate patients, families, professional nurses, and staff; functions as a liaison between patient, family and UofL Physicians staff; and participates in clinical research. The APRN should demonstrate an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.Job Description:

Women with gynecologic cancers receiving various types of treatments for cancer, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and antibody drug conjugates
Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team including two academic gynecologic oncologists, outpatient office staff, and resident team
Administrative responsibilities that oversee the other infusion providers within the organization
Primarily outpatient setting; crossover between MED/ONC and GYN/ONC
Cross-training in the radiation oncology unit and oncology specialty clinics
Responsibilities
Perform nursing assessment and identify changes in patient status by recognizing signs/symptoms of adverse reactions and side effects
Communicate pertinent information concerning treatment and any treatment-related side effects
Obtain medication reconciliation with every patient encounter
Obtain physician orders, provide nursing care, document assessments, and provide patient education regarding all modalities of infusion treatment and potential side effects
Review and identify abnormal lab values and other diagnostic tests appropriately and communicate to the appropriate provider
Review and verify appropriate parameters before initiating treatment; perform calculations of ANC, BSA, and dosage following established policies and procedures
Evaluate patients prior to therapy and facilitate inpatient admission if necessary Place orders and assist in inpatient admission if needed Collaborate with oncology pharmacists to ensure correct dosage
Administer chemotherapy proficiently by all routes (IV, SQ, IM, IP, Central line, Peripheral, and PO) in accordance with the Oncology Nursing Society guidelines, in addition to other standards (ASCO, INS, OSHA, NIOSH, and NCCN) Monitor patient for adverse reactions and provide appropriate treatment

Requirements
Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution
Current licensure in the state of Kentucky as an APRN
Current BLS
Current ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification course provider card required
ONCC certification (OCN, BMTCN, and/or CBCN) (preferred) No visa sponsorship available
