Responsibilities:
Customer & Technical Leadership
Serve as the primary technical contact for OEMs, Tier 1s, and cell makers in China.
Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and onsite trials.
Deliver compelling presentations, training, and workshops to accelerate customer decision making.
Application Engineering & Prototyping
Advise customers on envelope selection, stack integration, and manufacturability.
Support material trade‑off evaluations (e.g., nonwoven vs. film).
Operate a localized prototype hub to accelerate design iterations.
Supplier & Ecosystem Development
Identify, evaluate, and qualify local suppliers (materials, equipment, tools).
Coordinate PPAP, trial builds, and production readiness with supply chain partners.
Project & Market Intelligence Leadership
Manage application projects from concept through SOP, including scope, timeline, and risk.
Monitor regulations, standards, and competitor developments in the China battery market.
Feed China‑market insights into global roadmaps and product strategy.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
Professional fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written).
Hands‑on familiarity with Li‑ion cell technology, materials, and supply chain components.
Strong communication skills for customer‑facing work and cross‑functional collaboration.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills applied in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma principles.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
Experience with APQP/PPAP and automotive product development processes.
Knowledge of testing/quality requirements and inspection methods for battery components.
Practical experience in Li‑ion cell development or manufacturing (prismatic/pouch).
Understanding of China’s battery ecosystem and supplier landscape.
Exposure to prismatic/pouch envelope design, stack mechanics, and electrolyte wetting (nonwoven/polyolefin systems).
Knowledge of DVP&R, DOE, and customer validation frameworks for new materials/components.
