Job Description

What you’ll do:

"Eaton has an opening for a Compliance Engineer. This position will be based in Chennai, India.

This role (Compliance Engineer) will be responsible for working on the product compliance for regulations includes but not limited to ROHS, REACH, POP, ODS, TSCA, CA PROP 65, and maintain the compliance  status in the SAP/EHSM system. Responsible for interacting with the internal and external stake holders for collecting the declarations for the raw materials/ components and defining the same in the system.  The Engineer will be providing technical and tactical support for compliance and design for environment for Eaton’s broad portfolio of  GEIS products.

"The candidate in this position will be responsible to:
- Ensure compliance with global chemical and substance regulations such as RoHS, REACH, POP, ODS, WEEE, TSCA, Prop 65, and other applicable directives and regulations.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into product design and manufacturing specifications.
- Interact with the suppliers and OEMs and obtain the compliance declarations for components as per the regulations
- Assess material composition and manage restricted substances in products.
- Oversee material declarations, supplier compliance data, and BOM-level compliance
- Verify the compliance status of the parts along with the declarations against the requirements. 
- Upload and maintain the compliance status of the parts in SAP/EHSM system. 
- Update the right compliance contacts for the suppliers in the system and maintain the same. 
- Prepare checklists based on the regulations. 
- Define compliance assessment roadmap , project plans and monitors progress and achievements on projects. Provide regular reports on development and support activities
- Support product lifecycle assessments (LCA) and eco-design initiatives.
- Ensure environmental compliance from design through end-of-life (reuse, recycling, disposal).
- Interact with wider Eaton plants and request for the compliance details – as required.
- Support the wider Product Stewardship team with any specific product compliance and assessments to the new compliance requirements. 
- Interact with the test house for testing the parts of products against the compliance requirements. 
- Maintain effective communications both verbal & written with suppliers, customers, team members and cross functional teams
- Lead cross‑functional reviews with Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal, Quality, and Product teams"    

Qualifications:

B.E/B.Tech in Electronics/ Electronics & Communications / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Instrumentation/ Mechanical / Mechatronics 
5-7 years of experience in related field. 

Skills:

"•    Experience with tools such as IMDS, BOMcheck, SAP EHS, or PLM systems.
•    Excellent documentation and technical communication skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
•    Ability to analyse regulations & interprete technical data that can be effectively communicated to product and technology teams 
•    Knowledge on components and the chemical substances
•    Shall be able to develop test plans and checklists based on the standards.
•    Good working knowledge on MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint"
