Job Description

Konami Gaming is looking for a Buyer/Planner I to join our team!

The Buyer/Planner I is responsible for sourcing selection and procurement functions directly associated with Konami Gaming, Inc. needs for indirect materials; services, fixed assets, tooling, and selecting production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost quality, and delivery competitive levels are consistent with company policy and performance standards. This position is responsible for the timely planning, and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned consistent with APICS requirements or as appropriately concluded with the requestor.

 

What you'll be doing:

Purchasing:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and purchasing all manufacturing parts for assembling games and gaming products by performing the following duties. This includes developing long and short-range procurement strategies ensuring material supply and inventory levels.
  • Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools, arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required, close coordination with plant engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Evaluates purchasing requirements coordinating with Customer Service, Production Leads, Sales, R&D, Compliance, and other departments to ensure requisitioned materials are sourced properly and in accordance with jurisdictional and customer site requirements.
  • Executes to MRP Managers supply to current demand.
  • Procures materials, products, services required for company operations and gaming devices and systems to demand signal with supporting documentation. 
  • Develops, negotiates, and prepares contracts for purchase with select major commodities including annual bidding processes and stocking programs.
  • Manages vendor on time deliveries and on quantity deliveries, quality, and overall supplier performance; Performs Quantity Business Reviews – Cost, Quality and On Time Delivery.
  • Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
  • Visits suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.
  • Plans for monthly Excess and Obsolescence.
  • Processes RMA for credit on Defective materials.
  • Monthly Forecast communication to supply base, follow-up on Commit to Forecast.

Cost:

  • Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Conducts purchase order audits; monitors old purchase orders and resolves as needed. 
  • Negotiates price and supply terms for selected commodities and develops and/or writes major contracts and blanket orders.
  • Reviews and contributions to support alternative sources and cost analysis.
  • Annual Cost Down Analysis for review and execution.

Quality & Continuous Improvement:

  • Reviews and accepts purchase orders, amendments, and revisions. Coordinates with Receiving and Quality to monitor and resolve discrepancies and failures.
  • Studies of market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advises company activities with concurrence of Purchasing Manager.

Issue Resolution:

  • Assists in resolution process of supply and vendor problems; supervises the expediting of vendor deliveries or exchanges.
  • Reports any discrepancies, changes or recommendations, and/or problems for resolution to senior management.

Performs other related duties as assigned

What we'll want you to have:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree desirable.
  • MRP or Technical school certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training in purchasing/inventory department.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently, both verbal and written with all levels of the business.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Gaming licensure(s).
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Pronto computer proficiency would be advantageous.
  • Purchasing Management registration or license.

 

Work Environment:

  • Full-time / 40+ hours per week. Must be flexible to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Position shall work primarily in a smoke free office environment. The noise level is low to moderate. Position shall maintain a cubicle or office in close proximity to other cubicles and offices. 
  • Must be comfortable working in an area with limited working space for long hours with the ability to remain seated at computer terminal for extended periods of time. Extreme repetitive motion using keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Must be able to work at assigned location to enable direct communications and interactions with team members, management, and others as necessary, unless traveling for a business-related purpose.
  • Must be comfortable working on a concrete floor and warehouse environment. Must have the ability to move fast and function quickly on a daily basis. Position can be high stress and extremely fast paced. Ability to handle directives, assess situations, enter into dialogue and complete tasks. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, use hands, use and operate hand tools, ability to read and follow blueprints, manuals, and standing, bending stooping for long periods. Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to sit, stand, use hands, operate hand tools, have a specific vision push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, and stack. Must be able to listen and respond to verbal and written directions in English. May be required to move machines weighing up to 300 pounds with hand truck assistance.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a high-stress, fast-paced, and high-pressure environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, paying attention to detail, and meeting assigned deadlines. Demonstrates high integrity, trust, and strict confidentiality. Ability to maintain excellent communication and a positive, respectful, and professional attitude and relationship with clients, employees, peers, co-workers, all levels of management, and all outside organizations conducting business or otherwise interacting with the company. Ability to always act autonomously while adhering to overall department and company policies and procedures.
