Job Description:
Responsible for volunteer on-site programming and strategic growth of the volunteer services program and manages a large portfolio of volunteer opportunities and 100+ volunteers.
Principle Responsibilities
- Compliance
- Ensures all volunteer activities comply with organizational policies and procedures, including applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensures accurate record keeping of each volunteer profile and site/program details and opportunities. Including volunteer status, placed opportunities, completed tracking, volunteer hours and awards entered and tracked in a timely manner.
- Daily Operations
- Recruits, onboards and retains an adequate number of trained/competent volunteers to serve in areas best matched to their available time, talents and interest, based on needs of business unit or program
- Creates, maintains, and communicates volunteer schedules and staffing levels to ensure proper coverage.
- Participates in emergency management process to monitor and forward messages to volunteers as needed.
- Facilitates volunteer exit or dismissal process. May support activities of an auxiliary group.
- Volunteer Experience/Performance
- Works in collaboration with business units to effectively engage and evaluate volunteer performance and experience.
- As needed, propose short and long-term strategic alterations / improvements focused on the volunteer needs and experience. Plans and provides recognition to volunteers.
- Evaluates volunteer experience and implements improvements based on feedback from volunteers.
- Program Development
- Forges strategic partnerships with business unit or program leaders, community leaders, and organizations to position the volunteer services program as the preferred volunteer program in healthcare.
- Collaborates with system staff to develop and pilot innovative volunteer opportunities and measure results.
- Supports the growth of new volunteer roles across the system, may include the development of premier special events.
- Leadership
- Represents volunteer services as a leader and participates in business unit leadership meetings. Contributes to the overall success of the volunteer services program by participating or leading projects to improve the performance in collaboration with system office.
- Remains competent and current of industry best practices and trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
- 2+ years customer service, healthcare, education
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Post-secondary education
- 5+ years volunteer management, human resources, supervision, operations
- 1+ years volunteer experience
Licenses/Certifications
- CVA (Certified Volunteer Administrator), Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) or other applicable certification - Required within the first year of employment
Physical Demands

- Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
Pay Range
Pay Range: $31.07 to $42.59 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.Benefit Summary
