Job Description
General Scope of Job
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager - Extruding is a leadership position that supports, coaches, directs and assists production team members as needed to achieve plant safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and continuous improvement goals.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Extruding production area. Provides direct leadership to the shift supervision and active engagement to all extruding production employees. Drives safety, quality, and production initiatives to meet desired goals. Evaluates employee performance and provides necessary feedback. Utilizes corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors.
Ensures a safe working environment through formal inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment. Provides appropriate training and instructions to employees on standard and new operating procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Incorporates vision and values into day-to-day activities
Drive safety improvements and enhancements to champion safety culture
Formulate and recommend extruding strategy, policies, and programs that allow the organization to meet annual budgetary plans and the profitability of the operation
Support Human Resources with active employee administration while establishing a coaching culture.
Monitor Employees’ performance, conduct performance reviews, motivate team members and create strategies to boost engagement and productivity
Work cooperatively with press, converting, and all other support departments to ensure company expectations are met
Lead successful implementation of continuous improvement projects
Improve product quality and scrap reduction
Improve plant productivity through enhanced operating processes and workflow
Demonstrate understanding of overall business processes from raw material to downstream processes
Work with Production Control (PC) to ensure production schedule is properly planned and customer expectations are met 9. Monitor and communicate raw material and WIP status with logistics, supply chain, and all converting plants in business unit to ensure film supply to all converting plants in business unit.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
5+ years’ experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or packaging related industry.
Familiar with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and customer service skills, computer literacy, and the ability to learn new software programs are required
Experience with SAP, Microsoft products preferred.
