Job Description
Position SummaryThe Panel Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, wiring, and testing of industrial control panels in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and industry standards. This role ensures panels are built accurately, safely, and efficiently to meet project specifications and quality requirements. This position will be based at our New Iberia panel shop working approximately 40-50 hours per week.Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble, layout, and build industrial control panels, junction boxes, and enclosuresRead and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layoutsPerform point-to-point wiring, termination, and routing of cables/wiringInstall and mount electrical components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, and power suppliesDrill, cut, and modify enclosures and back panels as requiredEnsure proper labeling, wire management, and panel organization to meet quality standardsPerform continuity checks, inspections, and basic functional testingIdentify and report discrepancies in drawings, materials, or design specificationsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentFollow all safety procedures and electrical safety standardsSupport material handling, staging, and inventory control related to panel buildsPrepare completed panels for inspection, testing, and shipment
QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GEDBasic knowledge of electrical systems and componentsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and schematicsProficiency with hand tools and power toolsStrong attention to detail and workmanship qualityAbility to work independently and in a team environmentPreferredTechnical training or certification in electrical, electronics, or industrial systemsExperience in control panel assembly or electrical fabricationFamiliarity with industrial control components (PLC systems, instrumentation, etc.)Knowledge of relevant standards such as NEC, UL508A, or similarPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a shop environment for extended periodsManual dexterity for wiring and component installationWork EnvironmentPanel fabrication shop settingExposure to tools, electrical equipment, and moderate noise levelsMay require overtime or extended hours based on project needsCore CompetenciesAttention to detailTechnical/mechanical aptitudeQuality focusSafety awarenessTime management and productivity
