Job Description

  Position Summary  To serve our internal and external customers by managing our employees to established standards in order to ensure the safety and quality production of carbonated soft drinks while improving system and process efficiency to help increase company sales and profits.   Essential Functions Oversees all Quality Control systems and processes (i.e. Lab, Blending, Sanitation) to ensure compliance with all parent company, Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies; makes recommendations for improvement and implements necessary changes.  Directs staffing, training and skill development of direct reports to allow for talent management and employee engagement goals to be met; ensures department is properly staffed to maximize quality control and minimize labor costs.  Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures are met, followed and maintained in accordance with established company policy (e.g. OSHA and safety compliance, PepsiCo and AIB standards, FCCS 2200, Federal/State/Local laws).  Oversees and/or participates in all plant inspections (e.g. parent company, AIB, State and FDA), product hold/recall programs, micro programs; coordinates monthly plant audits and meets with all regulatory personnel.  Completes preliminary budgetary information, employee performance reviews and other paperwork according to established company policy; reviews and approves time-off requests and time cards.  Communicates with co-workers, employees and suppliers verbally and in writing regarding policy and procedure changes, departmental activities, operational feedback and other information.  Maintains confidentiality of syrup formulas, company pricing and financial information, employee information (e.g. discipline, wage information), and other sensitive and confidential information.  Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.  Investigates all consumer complaints regarding product quality.  Completes and distributes Quality Control reports, yield reports, inspection reports and other paperwork according to established company policy. Oversees all Production systems and processes (i.e. Bottle Line)  to ensure maximum operational efficiency is met; makes recommendations for improvement and implements necessary changes.  Completes and distributes preliminary budgetary information, Chemical Tier 2 reports, employee performance reviews, monthly efficiency reports, and other paperwork according to established company policy; reviews and approves time-off requests and timecards.  Performs monthly plant inspections to ensure compliance with established company standards; reviews and revises all written programs pertaining to food safety (e.g. Glass and Brittle Policy, Glove Control Policy, Post Maintenance Start Up procedures).     Education  4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry, and/or operations management, business or related fields required or equivalent work experience.   Experience  5 - 10 years of previous Quality Control management experience required; previous beverage/food quality control experience strongly preferred. Supervisory experience.     Computer Skills  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.            Other Requirements    Knowledge of: beverage industry; food production process; quality control and lab equipment; Good Manufacturing Practices for Food Industry; basic financial management; methods and techniques used in accident prevention and safety inspections; Microsoft Office Suite. Skill in: internal customer service; budgeting for labor and other expenditures; training and coaching. Ability to: train, develop, lead and manage a team; work quickly, efficiently and independently; manage multiple and competing priorities across separate shifts; communicate effectively with internal customers, suppliers and other employees both verbally and in writing; adapt to change; deliver presentations to employees; relate to and influence employees and co-workers; develop and maintain good working relationships; problem solve; multi-task; delegate; operate a computer; read and interpret financial statements, data and other reports; perform basic math functions. Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including forklifts, in compliance with safety standards and company procedures
