The Role and Impact We are seeking an experienced Senior PC Memory Module and Storage Validation Engineer to lead validation and qualification efforts for next-generation memory and storage solutions in PC and IoT platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, compatibility, and performance of DRAM modules (DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR/LPCAMM2) and storage devices (SSD, NVMe, M.2 UFS or SD express) across diverse PC platforms. The ideal candidate combines deep hardware knowledge with strong debugging, automation, and cross-functional collaboration skills. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities 1. Validation and Testing • Lead validation activities for PC memory modules (DIMM, SO-DIMM, LPDDR, LPCAMM2) and storage devices (NVMe, M.2 UFS or SD express SSDs). • Leverage existing or develop and execute comprehensive validation plans covering electrical, functional, thermal, and performance testing. • Perform compatibility testing across different chipsets, CPU platforms, BIOS/UEFI versions, and operating systems. • Leverage or design stress tests and endurance testing to ensure long-term reliability. 2. Debugging and Root Cause Analysis • Investigate system-level failures including boot issues, data corruption, performance degradation, and interoperability problems. • Use advanced debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers) to isolate root causes. • Collaborate with silicon vendors, OEM/ODM partners, and internal design teams to resolve complex issues. 3. Performance Characterization • Analyze memory bandwidth, latency, and storage throughput/IOPS performance. • Optimize system performance through tuning firmware, drivers, BIOS settings, and hardware configurations. • Provide detailed performance reports and improvement recommendations. 4. Automation and Tool Development • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and validation scripts (Python, PowerShell, or similar). • Integrate testing into continuous validation pipelines where applicable. • Improve test coverage and efficiency through scalable automation solutions. 5. Compliance and Certification • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as JEDEC, PCIe, NVMe, and M.2 UFS or SD express specifications. • Support platform qualification for regulatory and industry certifications. • Work with vendors to validate component compliance and interoperability. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Collaborate with system architects, BIOS/firmware engineers, hardware designers, and product managers. • Interface with memory and storage vendors to evaluate new technologies and components. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. 7. Managing Contractor Engineers • Lead and manage several contractor engineers to perform the responsibilities for sections 1 to 6 above. • Supervise and evaluate contractor engineers' effort, performance and results. • Conduct yearly performance evaluations for contract renewal.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. • 10+ years of experience in hardware validation, preferably in memory and storage subsystems. • Strong knowledge of: o DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR/LPCAMM2 memory architectures o PCIe, NVMe, M.2 UFS or SD express protocols o BIOS/UEFI and system firmware interactions • Experience with: o Validation tools (e.g., MemTest, Iometer, FIO, Intel VROC tools) o Debugging hardware interfaces and signal integrity issues o Scripting/programming (Python, C/C++, or similar) • Solid understanding of PC system architecture and platform bring-up. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications • Knowledge of memory and storage technologies and validation process. • Experience in memory and storage validations. • Familiar or have connections to memory and storage vendors. • Experience working with OEM/ODM platforms and large-scale validation environments. • Familiarity with Intel platform validation processes. • Knowledge of power management, thermals, and signal integrity concepts. • Experience with machine learning or data analytics for validation optimization. ________________________________________ Key Skills and Competencies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and reliability • Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams ________________________________________ Work Environment • Work in a lab environment with access to advanced validation and debugging equipment • Occasional travel to partner/vendor sites may be required ________________________________________ Success Metrics • Reduction in validation cycle time and issue escape rate • Improved platform stability and performance benchmarks • Successful product launches with minimal field failures • Effective collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
