Associate Scientist III
Job Description
Specific Responsibilities Will Include:
• Generation of reagents, such as CRISPR/Cas9 sgRNA, targeting vector, and bacterial artificial chromosome, to be used for genetic engineering in mice.
• Validation of reagents using in vitro cleavage assay, PCR-based methods and DNA sequencing.
• Genotyping of models using PCR, qPCR, Southern blot and sequencing.
• Independently review the relevant literature to understand and propose the best methods that can be applied to the needs of the group.
• Interacting with peers and collaborators in a professional manner and productively.
• Keep abreast of, and use, state-of-the-art technologies for generation of new GEMs.
• Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use.
Qualifications include:
• BS with at least 5 years or MS with at least three years of molecular biology experience in either academic or industry setting.
• In depth knowledge and experience implementing molecular cloning techniques, particularly recombineering using bacterial artificial chromosomes.
• Experience culturing and targeting embryonic stem cells.
• Basic knowledge of mouse genetics.
• Basic understanding genetic engineering in mice.
• Experience using the nuclease technology, including CRISPR/Cas, TALEN and ZFN, will be given special consideration.
