Job Description
Primary responsibilities:
- Maintain and ensure all equipment is functional/operational
- Provide training, guidance, and supervision to laboratory staff on analytical techniques, quality assurance procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods and procedures as and when required.
- Conduct inter-departmental quality audits.
- Conduct an assessment of the lab staff's competency
- Support and maintain the Laboratory Quality System.
- Provide quality assurance to clients by constantly reviewing their quality needs and implementing new strategies as necessary.
Specific responsibilities:
- Prepare and calibrate standards and reagents.
- Calibrate and maintain the working condition of equipment and apparatus.
- Meet the laboratory calibration schedule.
- Liaise with Lab personnel to solve problems relating to analysis quality. To initialize and implement new quality tools to raise the overall quality service standard.
- To set up new methods and develop tests as required.
- Organize validations and proficiency testing as appropriate and coordinate round robins testing.
- In liaison with the Lab Manager, to raise and update standard and in-house test methods and procedures.
- Perform operational analysis of routine samples as required.
- Analyze test results, interpret data, and prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Implement new testing methods to cater to customer requirements
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the management.
- Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering / Science or related field
- Preferably with 5-10 years of quality assurance/management experience in handling gas/petrochemical products.
- Able to coordinate and motivate a team towards a common goal
- Able to maintain the highest quality standard all the time
- Able to maintain good turnaround time (TAT) and on-time delivery (OTD)
- Technical knowledge and experience in the related field and in using quality management methods and tools
- Requires overtime/ extended hours of work as and when necessary
- Able to work independently and to coordinate several activities simultaneously
- Able to interact with all levels of management, suppliers, and clients
- Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Acts quickly and decisively; able to make tough calls
- Works well under pressure, challenges the status quo.
- Applies judgment and acts according to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity
- Knowledge of ISO systems and procedures. Able to adapt to the company's needs and requirements
