You have construction industry experience and may join us with backgrounds such as:
Inspector
Project Coordinator
Superintendent/ Foreman/ Past Trades leadership
Construction coordinator
This position is an excellent fit for individuals seeking a well-rounded lifestyle—devoting themselves to site inspection and fieldwork during the primary construction season, generally running from May through November, and then taking a well-earned break over the winter months. Returning from your break will offer you the opportunity to contribute to other project deliverables, which may include: cost estimation, bid preparation, drafting (AutoCAD C3D), and focus in on your continued professional development, ensuring you continue to grow in your role and are prepared for the next challenge. By accumulating banked time during the busier summer months, team members enjoy the flexibility to rest, recharge, and further their skills in advance of the next season.
A Little More About the Role:
You will serve as the onsite Engineer’s representative and will be responsible for overseeing construction activities on assigned projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conduct field inspections of earthworks, utilities (shallow and deep), road construction, asphalt, concrete, landscaping, streetlighting and related infrastructure;
Ensure compliance with safety, construction contracts, specifications, and drawings;
Monitor construction progress and contractor schedules;
Disciplined approach to completing site documentation for record, including safety reporting, site diaries, daily and weekly reports, and photographs;
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with project leads, contractors, and team members;
Work independently across multiple sites, demonstrating strong organization skills, initiative and reliability;
Ability to work longer hours during the construction season which may include night shifts, weekends, and holidays;
Utilize basic tools for field measurements and documentation of construction progress and quantities; and
Uphold safety protocols and adapt to varying field conditions (weather, physical activity).
During winter months you can anticipate:
Supporting drafting, utilizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D software;
Supporting cost estimation;
Supporting and preparing tender documents;
Receive training to round out your field experience that is company paid (AutoCAD, Safety training, role or client centric training for career growth and development in your role)

A few examples of the practical experience you have from working on construction projects and describe the role you played.
Your resume should show us:
A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Construction Inspector, field engineer or construction coordinator, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a superintendent or foreman;
A diploma or degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction, or a related field is preferred. Those without a degree or diploma that have strong demonstrated experience and competencies (beyond minimums above) in fulfilling these roles may be considered;
Working knowledge of construction specifications and standards; and
Valid Class 5 driver's license and the ability to attend project sites.
Bonus points:
Experience working on City of Calgary and or Alberta Transportation construction projects.
