Role Overview

Operating in a fast-moving environment shaped by complex legal work and rapidly evolving technology, this role focuses on supporting the successful delivery of large matters across the firm.

Reporting to the Head of Legal Project Management and Design, you will join a high-performing team at the forefront of legal project management, legal operations and technology-enabled service delivery.

You will play a key role in helping legal teams plan, manage and deliver significant matters. This includes supporting matter planning, resourcing, fee estimates, reporting, stakeholder communication, project management processes and continuous improvement. Beyond matter delivery, you will be responsible for developing and driving adoption of the team's suite of legal project management tools, including delivering training and set up support to internal teams and clients. You will also have the opportunity to explore how emerging technologies, including generative AI, can enhance matter delivery and legal project management practices. You may already be working as a Legal Project Manager, or you may be a lawyer or legally qualified professional looking to apply your legal experience in a different way and build a career in legal operations, legal project management, transformation and legal technology. This role offers the opportunity to continue working closely with lawyers and clients on complex matters, contribute to business development activities and develop expertise in the evolving business of legal services.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the planning, execution and ongoing project management of major, long-running matters involving multiple stakeholders, workstreams and dependencies.
  • Lead day-to-day legal project management activities across a range of matters, maintaining a close understanding of matter developments to proactively identify issues, track deliverables and develop practical solutions.
  • Work closely with partners, lawyers and business services teams to clarify priorities, manage resource allocation across workstreams including team onboarding and offboarding, and establish effective ways of working for the efficient delivery of complex matters.
  • Support pricing, fee estimates and tailored client reporting for the efficient delivery of matters and alignment with client expectations and commercial objectives.
  • Drive the development, adoption and implementation of internal Legal Project Management tools and processes, including setup, training and continuous improvement.
  • Identify, develop and test applicable technology solutions, including emerging AI-enabled capabilities, that support legal project management activities and improve the delivery of complex legal matters.
  • Create and contribute to templates, frameworks, guidance materials, training and other resources to build firm-wide legal project management capability.
  • Support broader firm transformation projects, including process mapping, workflow improvement and facilitating workshops that improve how we deliver legal services.

About You

  • 3-5 years of experience in legal project management, legal operations, professional services or a comparable project delivery environment.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of complex legal matters, including matter planning, governance activities, stakeholder communication and reporting.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
  • Confidence working with partners, lawyers, clients and business services teams, building strong relationships and supporting stakeholder alignment.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to synthesise information, track progress and communicate insights clearly.
  • Familiarity with pricing, fee estimates, financial reporting and related commercial activities in a legal, professional services or project delivery environment.
  • A track record of identifying opportunities for improvement and working with stakeholders to implement change effectively.
  • A keen interest in how legal technology, AI and emerging tools can support legal project management activities and improve the delivery of complex legal matters.
  • A strong service mindset, coupled with sound judgement, reliability and accountability.
  • Proactive, curious and comfortable operating in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience with project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma, Scrum or PMP would be advantageous but is not essential. We are happy to support the right candidate with training and development where needed.
