Job Description

To provide frontline mental health crisis support and intervention to individuals in the South West of England, operating within NHS Band 4 scope to assess, triage, and de-escalate acute psychological distress.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to crisis calls within target timeframes
  • Conduct mental state risk assessments accurately
  • De-escalate acute distress safely and effectively
  • Signpost or refer to appropriate ongoing care
  • Maintain clear, timely clinical records
Required Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Health & Social Care
  • Experience in mental health or crisis settings
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act and safeguarding
  • Ability to work shifts including nights and weekends
  • Valid driving licence for community-based work
  • Risk assessment
  • Mental state examination
  • Crisis de-escalation techniques
  • Safeguarding procedures
  • NHS clinical record systems (e.g. RiO, SystmOne)
  • Triage and signposting
