Summary

Tooling Engineer 1   Salary Range: $29.00 - $47.00/ Hr.

The Tooling Engineer 1 (TE1) has some knowledge of cutting tools, toolholders, workholding, and other machine tool specific industrial supplies. The TE1 sees the world through the lens of a customer, both the shop owner/foreman and the front-line machine operator and provides technical support to clients, whether online, via e-mails, and/or in person. This uniquely broad perspective makes the TE1 invaluable in tooling/workholding product development for Haas.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform Sample Review Tests of Cutting Tools and Workholding for Form, Fit, and Function, and thoroughly document it.
  • Utilize CAD software to develop 2D blue prints and/or 3D solid models of tooling and workholding.
  • Create technical details, such as feed/speed calculators and usage guides.
  • Analyze technical material, such as schematic diagrams or engineering drawings, and work with management personnel to develop standards for new product development.
  • Create new part numbers and specifications of e-commerce tooling.
  • Provide technical support for tooling and workholding to end users, and website.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and manufacturing departments to provide product recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the Tooling industry by expanding networks and attending events.
  • Perform excel and VBA programming when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Ability to operate and program CNC machines; Haas most preferred.
  • General knowledge and understanding of cutting tools and workholding.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC machine tools.
  • Practical experience using CAD and SolidWorks software.
  • Basic experience using SAP.
  • Ability to complete projects on time and to specification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Basic experience with analytical problem-solving.
  • Basic CAM experience that is up to date with current software.
  • Basic experience with VBA and Python programming.
  • Basic robotics knowledge.
  • Travel up to 5%.

 

 

 

Education

Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA from a four-year college or university is required, plus additional related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations in English. Must be able to write analytical and/or technical reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and create instructional reference material. Able to speak effectively before groups, customers, employees of the organization and/or the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. May need to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions such as mathematical and/or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
