
Code Compliance Specialist
Job Description
Seeking to fill one opening in:
Business Tax Receipt (BTR) Division
Performs a variety of administrative and research work of moderate difficulty relating to code compliance of the adopted code of ordinances and other rules and regulations through field inspections and investigative work. Performs certificate of use/Business Tax Receipts (BTRs) inspections. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude. An Associate’s degree or 60 college credits in public administration, construction management or a related field preferred; supplemented by three or more years’ experience in code enforcement; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience beyond high school diploma or GED and difficult public contact; conducting inspections, reviewing plans, processing code enforcement, building/zoning or business tax receipt documentation.
Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) code enforcement certifications (Levels 1 and 3) preferred. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment. One (1) year experience conducting certificate of use inspections is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- As a condition of employment; F.A.C.E. Level 1 must be obtained within one year of employment and must be maintain throughout employment.
- Various work shifts may be assigned to include, earlier/later than normal schedules, and weekends.
One position available in the Development Services Department - Business License and Certificate of Use Division.
