Build the Future of Geospatial Technology as a Software Engineering Intern

Ready to make a global impact and see your code used on real-world infrastructure projects? Trimble is looking for a passionate Software Engineering Intern to help develop our world-leading Trimble Access data collection software, working with cutting-edge cross-platform technologies right here in Christchurch.

What Makes This Role Great:

In this role, you will be embedded within a world-class development team, directly contributing to an application that spans radio communications, 3D visualization, and cloud connectivity. You will gain hands-on experience working cross-platform on Windows and Android while receiving direct mentorship to accelerate your engineering career.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, implement, and test bug fixes and software enhancements within the Trimble Access core codebase.

  • Collaborate closely with global team members to support advanced GNSS receivers, optical total stations, and smart targets.

  • Apply theoretical software engineering practices and conceptual knowledge to solve real-world technical problems.

  • Partner with an assigned mentor to build predictability in your engineering, scheduling, and product quality output.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • Exposure to programming languages, development processes, and modern software techniques.

  • Solid understanding and experience implementing common software design patterns.

  • Strong analytical skills, a curious mindset, and a proactive drive for innovation.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience writing code in C++ within a mobile or embedded environment.

  • Familiarity with cross-platform development across Windows and Android systems.

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand - In Office

Travel Requirement: 0%

Based at Trimble’s NZ headquarters in Christchurch, New Zealand (handily located on the Little River Link Cycleway). Our office is home to over 400 Trimble employees, where you can enjoy free parking, securely covered bike sheds, an onsite gym, showers, and an active social club.
