About the Team

Our Child and Family Life Team provides developmentally based therapeutic interventions for pediatric patients and families which support coping skills, medical insights and socialization. By providing psychosocial care to 25+ pediatric units/departments, we serve hundreds of families every day.

Scope of Work

Using tools of consulting, mentoring, coaching and interprofessional collaboration, the nurse educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of child and family life team members along the continuum from novice to expert. Functions in the roles of change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence-based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions. Collaborates with child and family life leadership to coordinate educational initiatives for the department, focusing especially on child life specialists and related roles. Offers support to all child and family life staff and departments supported by the child and family life team. Works with interdisciplinary teams to help patients and families manage complex psychosocial issues. This position requires experience developing/mentoring/onboarding new team members and knowledge of essential role functions including but not limited to evidence-based practices, psychosocial support and pediatric care. Child and Family Life Educator is required to maintain Child Life Specialist Certification.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Child Life Science, Child Development, Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Recreational Therapy or related degree
  • Preferred Master's Degree
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting including education and program planning Required
  • CRT-Child Life Specialist (CCLS) - CLCC Child Life Certification Commission required
