Job Description

Here at Amazon we are currently seeking for experienced Area Managers to join the business and play a critical role in leading our team of associates within our Delivery Station in Chullora, NSW

Do you have a passion for motivating, mentoring, and coaching a team? Do you pride yourself in maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance and performance? As an Area Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining our customer expectations to ensure customer orders are delivered at the right time, to the right location.

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead and coordinate daily operations within our Last Mile delivery station. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of associates and delivery service partners (DSPs) to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely processing and dispatch of customer packages.

You will own end-to-end shift performance across key operational metrics including delivery success rates, on-time dispatch, sort compliance, throughput productivity, and package quality. You will drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and associate engagement while meeting daily volume targets in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead Return to Station (RTS) operations within our Last Mile delivery station. This role operates on a Sunday–Wednesday shift pattern, 13:30–23:00, and is responsible for managing the end-of-day processing cycle including returned packages, driver debrief, inventory reconciliation, and station reset for the following day's operations.

In the RTS function, you will own the processing of all undelivered and returned packages — ensuring accurate scanning, defect identification, re-stow compliance, and timely re-integration into the next delivery cycle. You will lead a team of associates through the evening sort and closeout process, driving quality, speed, and accuracy to minimise customer impact from missed deliveries. You will also be responsible for operating a speed cycle of circa 3,000 shipments.

Key job responsibilities
- Leading and developing a team of associates during the RTS window, managing driver return processing, package scanning, re-stow, and problem-solve functions
- Owning shift performance against key RTS metrics including scan compliance, re-stow timeliness, concession defects, and inventory accuracy
- Managing the driver debrief process and coordinating with DSP partners on return volumes, package condition, and delivery exceptions
- Ensuring all returned inventory is accurately reconciled, defects are identified and dispositioned, and packages are available for next-day re-attempt
- Driving safety culture through compliance with all site safety standards during evening operations
- Coaching and developing associates through regular feedback, performance conversations, and development planning
- Identifying root causes of return volume drivers and collaborating with station leadership on reduction strategies
- Managing real-time labour allocation to balance workload across RTS sub-processes based on return volume variability

A day in the life

Along with your peers, you’ll ensure that all workflows run smoothly and that customer expectations are met, if not exceeded.
