Job Description
Project: Newmont Red Chris Block Cave
Location: Northwest British Columbia (18 km southwest of the Isdut Village)
Rotation: 21 days on 21 days off
Allowance: Travel and accommodations provided

Job Summary:
The Journeyman Electrician is to assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and other equipment to required specifications meeting or exceeding Redpath and government regulations/standards.
General:
- Perform electrical repairs according to requirements
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
- Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance according to schedules and maintain proper records
- Familiar with surface and underground electrical equipment
- Fabricate electrical panels and other necessary installation of electrical cables.
- Comply with all Redpath and government safety regulations and procedures
Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices
- Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety policies
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

Health and Safety:
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
- Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area
Education
Required: High School Diploma, Trade certificate
Preferred: College level education, Trade certificate
Work Experience:
Required: 2-5 years’ experience
Preferred: 5 years’ experience in mining applications
Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of PLC and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, and targets
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of applicable electrical legislation, regulations
- Able to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Able to use and interpret electrical instruments and testers
- High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy
- Effective and creative thinker and problem solver
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
