About the Opportunity

Our client is an established law firm in Toronto seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Real Estate Law Clerk to join their real estate practice group. This is a confidential search for a technically strong professional with deep expertise in condominium development and subdivision matters, ready to take ownership of complex files in a collaborative, in-office environment.

The Role

As a Senior Real Estate Law Clerk, you will manage a broad range of transactional and development files with a focus on condominium development and subdivision work. You will work closely with real estate lawyers and clients to move files forward efficiently, exercising a high degree of independence and technical expertise built over years of hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of condominium development files, including draft plan of condominium approvals, declaration and description preparation, status certificates, and registration on title

  • Handle subdivision files from draft plan approval through to final registration, including subdivision agreements, servicing agreements, and lot grading

  • Liaise with the City of Toronto, Land Registry Office, Teraview, and municipal and provincial authorities on development approvals and registrations

  • Prepare, review, and manage closing documents for complex residential and commercial real estate transactions

  • Draft and review agreements of purchase and sale, development agreements, easements, and restrictive covenants

  • Conduct and review title searches, off-title searches, and due diligence investigations

  • Coordinate with developers, municipalities, surveyors, engineers, and other external parties throughout the development process

  • Manage critical deadlines, conditions, and registrations across multiple active development files simultaneously

  • Mentor and guide junior law clerks and legal assistants within the practice group

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Condominium Act, Planning Act, and related Ontario legislation and regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk with a strong focus on condominium development and/or subdivision work in Ontario

  • Law Clerk diploma or degree from an accredited Ontario institution; membership with ILCO (Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario) is strongly preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Condominium Act, Planning Act, Land Titles Act, and related legislation

  • Hands-on experience with Teraview, e-reg, and the Land Registry Office

  • Familiarity with the City of Toronto's development approval and registration processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal practice management software is an asset

  • Exceptional organizational and file management skills with a proven ability to handle high volumes and competing deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with clients, municipalities, and external stakeholders

  • A self-starter with sound judgment and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential development and transaction matters
