Job Description
Oversees daily work of T.S.S.S. and directly supervises unit staff that includes 2 Academic Advisors and 1 program coordinator and oversee 6 to 8 student employees. Collaborates with AVP for AA on budgeting that addresses services to transfer students. Responsible for operating within fiscal parameters and providing input to budgetary processes. Updates AVP for AA on daily, monthly, and annual utilization of T.S.S.S. Develops and implements an assessment process to understand the impact of T.S.S.S. on student success. Provides support for the development of UAccess Analytics reporting. Directs or supports the hiring, training and evaluation of staff. Provides, plans and leads training direction and instruction to staff and conducts performance evaluations. Accountable for developing and implementing selective programs and other advising processes (e.g. 2+2 Program in Degree Search; AZ Transfer Meetings.) Develops resources to increase effectiveness and efficiency, especially around transfer student issues. Deliver leadership on establishing and interpreting policies and procedures that impact transfer students. Coordinates with college-wide academic advising community regarding transfer issues. Collaborates with T.S.S.S. staff to coordinate and oversee student programs and provide direction and leadership. Represents department at appropriate meetings by maximizing collaboration with enrollment management, student affairs, and advising units across the university. Develop relationships with campus partners, community college partners, and other stakeholders who are focused on transfer student success. Provides Academic Advising for transfer students during peak times or special projects. Averaging 10/hrs. a week. Special projects and other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of student development theory. Knowledge of advising practices and principles. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with various student populations, university personnel, representatives from businesses and the community. Ability to effectively prioritize and perform duties autonomously. Ability to work closely and effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and individuals in a complex environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel). Expert knowledge of UA policy and procedures. Expert knowledge on policy, processes, and procedures that impact transfer student success. Understanding for use of UAccess Student and Analytics and Trellis. Strong management/organization/planning skills. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments effectively. Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in working with student populations. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with university personnel: faculty, college deans, administrators, and staff.
