Position Summary:
Our Non-Public Special Education School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team
This position supports our students in a student-centered, emotionally responsive learning environment that fosters growth in academic skills, emotional regulation, and independence
The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a strong commitment to supporting students with unique learning needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide academic and behavioral support to students in one-to-one and small group settings under the direction of a certified teacher.
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials.
- Promote student engagement, emotional security, and positive peer interactions.
- Model appropriate behavior and mentor students throughout the school day.
- Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher and other team members to monitor student progress.
- Assist with classroom organization, transitions, and supervision.
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Current Illinois Paraprofessional License
- Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Paraprofessional approval through the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Experience working with students with learning differences or emotional challenges preferred.
