Summary
Maintenance managers are pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and asset longevity. Their role combines technical proficiency, strategic planning, team leadership, financial oversight, and compliance management to maintain smooth operations and minimize disruptions across an organization
Qualifications: 5 plus year experience the following categories below preferred:
Operational Oversight: Maintenance managers plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities to ensure equipment and facilities operate reliably and minimize downtime. They implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, inspect equipment, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to prevent failures and extend asset lifespan
Team Leadership: They supervise and train maintenance staff, delegate tasks, manage workflow, and promote a culture of safety and efficiency. Performance evaluation, coaching, and skill development are key aspects of their leadership role
Strategic Planning: Maintenance managers develop maintenance procedures, schedules, and strategies to optimize operational efficiency. They track asset conditions, plan for upgrades or replacements, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Financial Management: They prepare and manage maintenance budgets, monitor expenses, evaluate cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacements, and identify opportunities to optimize resources and reduce costs
Vendor and Contractor Coordination: Maintenance managers liaise with external vendors, negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of maintenance projects
Safety and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, such as Lock-Out / Tag-Out, confined space procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment, is a critical responsibility. They conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Administrative Duties: They maintain records of maintenance activities, track work orders, manage inventory of spare parts and equipment, and implement maintenance management systems to monitor performance and schedule tasks
Education: high school education or GED equivalent required
Some College or CRMP or CMM preferred
ANSI knowledge a plus
