Location: Logan Health Medical Center – Kalispell, Montana

Shift: Day Shift – 10 Hours | Full-Time – 40 Hours

Become an integral part of a highly specialized anesthesia team dedicated to delivering exceptional care throughout the surgical experience. As an Anesthesia RN, you'll work side-by-side with anesthesiologists and CRNAs, providing hands-on support with regional nerve blocks, vascular access, patient monitoring, and procedural care that directly impacts patient safety and surgical outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists and CRNAs to provide comprehensive nursing support before, during, and after anesthesia procedures.

  • Assist anesthesia providers with regional nerve blocks by preparing equipment, medications, supplies, and patients while maintaining sterile technique.

  • Support placement of vascular access lines and other anesthesia-related procedures.

  • Prepare, apply, and monitor physiologic monitoring equipment, ensuring accurate assessment of patient status throughout procedures.

  • Continuously assess patients before, during, and after anesthesia, promptly recognizing and communicating changes in patient condition.

  • Prepare patients for anesthesia by performing assessments, verifying documentation, and ensuring readiness for procedures.

  • Safely administer medications and assist with anesthesia-related interventions within the RN scope of practice and organizational policies.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, infection prevention practices, and patient safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perioperative staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver seamless patient care.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked procedural environment while ensuring anesthesia equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.

  • Promote excellence through professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and compassionate patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Montana Registered Nurse license or a multistate Compact RN license with authorization to practice nursing in Montana.

  • Current RQI Provider (BLS) certification within seven (7) days of hire or transfer, or prior to providing independent patient care, whichever occurs first.

  • Working knowledge of professional nursing principles, medical terminology, and evidence-based nursing practice.

  • Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment, sterile procedures, and clinical equipment utilized during anesthesia and procedural care.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality standards.

  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, universal blood and body fluid precautions, and safe handling of medications and hazardous materials.

  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional patient care with integrity, compassion, and professionalism.

  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn electronic health record systems and other software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • 2+ years of nursing experience in a hospital, surgical, procedural, ICU, PACU, emergency department, or similar acute care setting.

  • Previous experience supporting anesthesia providers, procedural sedation, regional nerve blocks, vascular access, invasive monitoring, or perioperative services.

Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN license or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana required. 

  • BSN degree preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position within a medical setting (e.g., physician office, clinic, or hospital) preferred.  Experience in assigned area(s) preferred.

  • Possess knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical terminology, and principles of professional nursing practice to administer and evaluate patient care. 

  • RQI Provider (BLS) required within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever occurs first. 

  • Understanding the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to, HIPAA guidelines.

  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office, simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions.

  • Must have knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items; restrictions imposed by various manage care carriers, various forms inherent to profession.

  • Promotes excellence through setting high standards and providing high quality outcomes. 

  • Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and exhibit empathy. 

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. 

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. 

Additional requirements per assigned areas:

Obstetrics (OB)

  • ACLS and NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer

  • STABLE and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

  • NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • STABLE must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

Pediatrics (PEDS) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

  • PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • APHON must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

Emergency Department

  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • TNCC and ENPC must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

ALERT

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in both the ICU and ED.

  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • TNCC or ATLS audit must be obtained  within 1 year of hire/transfer.

  • STABLE must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

  • Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring or equivalent must be obtained within one (1) year of hire/transfer.

  • TPATC must be obtained within two (2) years of hire/transfer.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

  • ACLS and NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

  • NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Endoscopy

  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Develops, implements and coordinates individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients using the nursing process as appropriate for RN’s as applicable to the assigned area(s).

  • Maintains nursing standards of care and responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance as appropriate.

  • Transcribes and implements provider orders and treatments both verbal and written accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation. Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.

  • Exhibits a thorough practice of infection control procedures per policy and procedure as applicable to the assigned area(s).

  • Identifies, verbally evaluates, and reports identified reaction changes in the stated physical and mental conditions of patients.

  • Documents all encounters with patients seeking health advice according to organizational standards, while clearly demonstrating the nursing process.

  • Provides individual instruction and education to patients and families concerning health and medical needs per department protocol and as applicable to assigned area(s).

  • Assesses and anticipates the needs of the patient, and coordinates the necessary interventions as defined by policy, procedure and the written/verbal orders of the provider as applicable to assigned area(s).

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
