Job Description

Facilitates the smooth running of the nursing unit by performing a broad range of clerical duties; transcribes medical orders, maintains medical records, communicates effectively, and assists in providing a safe and efficient unit. Ensures the accuracy and efficiency of registration of patients for outpatient procedures and in-house admissions.

Essential Functions

· Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

· Answer questions regarding services, policies, and procedures, providing accurate information.

· Act as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff, relaying messages and updates as needed.

· Assist in scheduling appointments, coordinating admissions, and managing patient flow within the unit.

· Address and resolve patient concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.

· Maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations, ensuring patient needs are prioritized.

· Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

· Assist with insurance verification and billing inquiries, ensuring patients understand their coverage and financial responsibilities.

· Work collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to ensure efficient patient care and service delivery.

· Participate in unit meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to customer service and patient care.

Education

  • High School Diploma Or

  • GED 

Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Red Cross or American Heart Association
