Job Description

Position Overview The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing all aspects of resort maintenance, safety, and facility operations. This role ensures the property is maintained to the highest standards of functionality, safety, and guest satisfaction while aligning with Omni Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Assist in managing daily engineering operations across guest rooms, public areas, pools, beach access points, and back-of-house spaces Supervise, train, and mentor engineering team members; promote a culture of accountability and service excellence Act as department head in the Director’s absence Maintenance & Facilities Management Oversee preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment, elevators, and resort infrastructure Ensure timely response and resolution of maintenance requests (guest and internal) Maintain resort grounds, including landscaping coordination and exterior facilities Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, fire safety, environmental standards) Lead safety initiatives, inspections, and emergency preparedness programs Maintain accurate logs, permits, and inspection records Financial & Administrative Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and expense control for the engineering department Manage inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships Identify cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or guest experience Guest Experience Collaborate with Rooms, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure seamless operations Respond to escalated guest concerns with professionalism and urgency Support resort initiatives that enhance the overall guest experience Qualifications 3–5+ years of engineering or facilities leadership experience in hospitality (resort experience preferred) Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems Proven leadership and team development skills Experience with building systems, work order systems, and preventive maintenance programs Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays Relevant certifications (HVAC, electrical, or engineering licenses) preferred Omni Hotels & Resorts – Associate Perks & Benefits At Omni, associates enjoy a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support both professional and personal well-being: Health & Wellness Medical, dental, and vision insurance Company-paid life insurance Short-term and long-term disability coverage Financial & Retirement 401(k) retirement plan with company match Competitive salary with bonus potential Time Off Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay Paid sick leave Travel & Lifestyle Complimentary and discounted room nights at Omni properties nationwide Friends & family rate programs Discounts on resort dining, spa services, and retail Career Development Opportunities for advancement within Omni Hotels & Resorts Training and leadership development programs Internal promotion culture Additional Perks Associate recognition programs Uniforms and meals (where applicable) Employee assistance program (EAP)
