Job Summary:

The Pricing Analyst I supports POOLCORP’s pricing processes and strategies by analyzing data to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and profitability across our product portfolio. This entry-level role contributes to the development of pricing tools, conducts data-driven analyses, and partners with internal teams to ensure pricing practices align with business goals. The analyst will leverage AI-enabled pricing platforms, automation, and modern BI tools to surface insights faster, reduce manual effort, and help senior analysts and leadership translate data into actionable pricing strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze pricing data and market trends to evaluate profitability and margin impacts across categories, customer segments, and channels.

  • Support the creation and refinement of pricing models for products and services, leveraging AI/ML-enabled pricing platforms (e.g., PROS, Vendavo, Pricefx, Zilliant, or similar) where applicable.

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to track pricing performance and identify trends, automating recurring deliverables using BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI) and AI-assisted workflows.

  • Assist in margin management initiatives by identifying pricing discrepancies, transactional issues, and elasticity signals surfaced by pricing analytics tools.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Category Management, IT) on pricing approvals, standards, and workflows.

  • Prepare presentations summarizing pricing findings, AI-generated insights, and recommendations for senior analysts and leadership.

  • Participate in the development, testing, and adoption of automation and AI tools to streamline data-driven decision-making, including dashboards, alerts, and recurring report pipelines.

  • Monitor competitive landscapes and pricing benchmarks—including dynamic pricing trends—to inform strategic decisions.

  • Contribute to the improvement of pricing controls, governance, and practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.

  • Document workflows, data lineage, and use cases for pricing automation and AI tools to support repeatable, auditable processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Analytics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or related field required. Master’s preferred.

  • 0–2 years of experience in pricing, analytics, or related analytical functions (internships and applied academic projects qualify).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH), complex formulas, conditional logic, data cleansing, and building repeatable models. Comfort with macros/VBA is a plus.

  • Moderate understanding of relational databases (tables, keys, joins, normalization, and basic data modeling concepts) and working knowledge of SQL for querying, joining, filtering, and aggregating data across multiple tables. Exposure to BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI preferred.

  • Exposure to AI-enabled or automated pricing tools (e.g., PROS, Vendavo, Pricefx, Zilliant, or comparable platforms) and comfort using AI-assisted workflows to accelerate analysis, automate recurring reporting, and improve data quality. Relevant coursework, certifications, internships, or hands-on project work qualifies.

  • Basic understanding of financial concepts such as profitability, margins, cost structures, and price elasticity.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Python, R, or VBA for data manipulation and lightweight automation.

  • Exposure to machine learning, predictive analytics, or dynamic pricing concepts as applied to commercial decisions.

  • Experience building or maintaining automated dashboards, alerts, or report pipelines.

  • Awareness of data governance, version control, and documentation best practices.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Foundational problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data efficiently and apply critical thinking to ambiguous problems.

  • Curiosity and a desire for growth and continuous learning in analytics, AI, and pricing optimization.
