Logistics Coordinator - Import & Export

Job summary:
This role co-ordinates general logistics, import, and export operations, acting as the primary point of contact for 3PL warehouse, transport, customs, and logistics providers across the UK/Europe. The role will ensure the efficient movement of goods while maintaining compliance with customs, SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary), and Export Health Certificate (EHC) requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating export documentation, supporting customs and border processes, liaising with Official Veterinarians, and managing key relationships with logistics partners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Act as the primary liaison for 3PL, transport, customs, and freight forwarding partners across the UK and Europe, ensuring smooth day-to-day logistics and export operations.
• Coordinate import and export activities, including urgent shipments, export documentation, customs paperwork, Export Health Certificates (EHCs), and SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary) compliance requirements.
• Liaise with Official Veterinarians, warehouses, customs brokers, and logistics providers to ensure timely and accurate shipment processing.
• Monitor logistics performance, identify efficiencies, and support cost-saving and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with UK and European transport, customs, and food export regulations, as well as company procedures.
• Work closely with Commercial, Planning, Finance, Operations, and Service teams to support efficient logistics and export processes.
• Obtain transport quotations, coordinate expedited shipments, and maintain accurate shipment records and reporting.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics, distribution, and export administration activities.
• Maintain strong communication with customers and external partners, providing shipment updates and resolving operational issues.

Core Competencies and Requirements:
• Education to degree level is preferred, ideally in a relevant field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations, ideally within a medium to large organisation.
• Knowledge of food / FMCG logistics operations, with multi-temperature and/or warehouse experience considered advantageous.
• Experience with customs and IMPORT/EXPORT processes; UK customs knowledge would be beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent in English; German language skills would be advantageous.
• Experience working with ERP and/or WMS systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) would be beneficial.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
