Special Education Assistant � Full Time - STEP Program
Hourly Rate: $25.60 - $29.41
The Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced special education assistant to work within the special education department at the Blanchard Elementary School in the STEP Program. The STEP program serves elementary students across multiple grade levels who demonstrate complex learning profiles and require specialized educational approaches. Students require alternate or modified curriculum to meaningfully access their learning and need explicit instruction in social skills and emotional regulation strategies. Students may present with various learning disabilities, including but not limited to intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, multiple disabilities, or neurological disabilities that impact their ability to access learning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide positive behavior supports and academic interventions for students
- Work with lead teacher to provide academic, social, and emotional support and intervention
- Work collaboratively with team of general education and special education teachers and therapists
- Collect data
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field preferred
- Experience in public school setting
- Experience working with children with disabilities
- Able to take initiative and work independently
- Knowledge of early childhood and adolescent development
