Job Description

We are now looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join Konecranes’ growing Ports Solution Software Team and work with autonomous container handling solutions in international port environments around the globe.

Konecranes moves what matters. We are a global leader in material handling solutions, serving a broad range of customers across multiple industries. We consistently set the industry benchmark, from everyday improvements to the breakthroughs at moments that matter most, because we know we can always find a safer, more productive and sustainable way. That's why, with 16 000+ professionals in over 50 countries, we are trusted every day to lift, handle and move what the world needs.

Konecranes is committed to ensuring that all employees and job applicants are treated fairly in an environment which is free from any form of discrimination.

Would you be our new Commissioning Engineer?

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will join an international team responsible for commissioning autonomous and semi-autonomous port crane solutions for global customers. In this role, you will work with advanced technologies such as lidar systems, positioning technologies, camera systems, remote operation features and smart automation applications that make container handling safer, smarter and more efficient.

Your work consists of commissioning and configuring different sensors and systems, troubleshooting communication issues between components, configuring Ethernet-based devices and networks, replacing faulty components and participating in physical installation work when needed. Outside of site phases, you will support projects remotely and participate in documentation updates and technical support activities.

The work is highly practical and hands-on, carried out in international port environments together with automation teams, site managers and customers. Depending on the project, several commissioning engineers may work on the same site simultaneously.

The role includes extensive international travel. Typical rotation in Europe is approximately three weeks on site followed by one week at home, while longer-distance projects may include longer site periods. On average, the role includes approximately 200–250 travel days per year depending on projects and schedules.

This is a full-time and permanent position starting as soon as possible. The employment contract will be signed with Biisoni.

What are we looking for?

You may already have some experience in commissioning, industrial maintenance or automation projects, or you could still be at an earlier stage of your career with strong motivation to grow into the role. A background in electrical engineering, automation, industrial maintenance or electrical installation provides a strong foundation for the role. Most importantly, you enjoy practical technical work and are motivated by international project environments.

To succeed in this role, you should have a basic understanding of PLC systems such as Siemens S7 and TIA Portal, Ethernet-based device communication and electrical drawings. Familiarity with Linux is considered an advantage.

Previous hands-on experience from industrial environments is highly valuable, especially within industries such as material handling, lifting equipment, mining, automation or mobile machinery. You are willing to travel internationally for longer periods when needed and understand the realities of project-based commissioning work.

As a person, you are curious, proactive and solution-oriented. You communicate fluently in English and feel comfortable asking questions, collaborating with different stakeholders and adapting to changing project situations. You take ownership of your work, actively seek information and are motivated by learning new technologies in constantly evolving environments.

Why us?

Konecranes offers you a unique opportunity to work with some of the most advanced autonomous equipment solutions in the industry. You will join a growing international team where knowledge is actively shared and where learning and development are genuinely supported.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to build an international career within a global technology company. Many professionals have moved from commissioning roles into other technical and business-focused positions inside Konecranes. You will have the opportunity to combine international work, modern automation technology and practical engineering in a role where no two projects are the same.
