As part of our VTS business, our PRV team is primarily focused on the design, manufacture, delivery and support of protected mobility vehicles on a global scale. YOUR ROLE:
Come join our growing engineering delivery team as a Vehicle Test Technician. In this role, you will conduct tests on protected vehicles and its sub-systems using Thales and external facilities, sensors and data recording equipment. The test results will be used to determine the function, performance and compliance of the system under test for use by the engineering development teams, impacting design, verification and customer product acceptance.
Working at our Bendigo site, on Dja Dja Wurrung Land, some of your roles and responsibilities include:
Conduct Tests as directed by Test Engineer under authority of Test Manager. Setup and tear down SUT, test facility, test equipment, instrumentation and sensors. Conduct tests, provide measured test data to Test Engineer. Undertake calibration of sensors.
In conjunction with Test Engineer design tests, identify and define equipment needed for tests and confirm availability of critical items with Test Asset Controller.
Support definition of test equipment CAPEX, demand of consumables and hire, external and internal calibration.
Install equipment on a vehicle or test bench including sensors and data loggers for stress/strain, acoustic power and spectral vibration sensors and loggers, thermal, electrical voltage and current loggers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and CAN Bus loggers.
Lead and conduct tests as part of a team, record data, ensuring data loggers are synchronised, communicate results and logs to the Test Engineer, or if directed calculate results.
Provide practical test and evaluation advice on the application of vehicle test techniques.
Support the maintenance of the Vehicles Test and Evaluation (T&E) capability.
YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Must have a Diploma (or higher educational qualification) in Automotive Technology or Electrical or Instrumentation.
Demonstrate and maintain a high level of own knowledge of test and evaluation techniques, including the performance of routine and specialised tests as well as new and bespoke tests. Maintain knowledge of new standards and processes. Maintain knowledge of new test equipment, test and measurement techniques. Support the development of specialised test equipment.
Must have a strong background in vehicle technology including complete drive trains, structures and suspension, electrical power and CAN Bus systems.
Must be able to setup and program instrumentation devices.
Train and mentor personnel in the use of scientific equipment and ensure that the equipment is calibrated and in a serviceable condition before use and when stored.
Attend specialised test and evaluation and equipment training.
