Phone Triage Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Heart Failure

Position Summary

• The Staff Nurse performs telephone and symptom assessment and will respond to patient calls, portal messages and refill requests.
• The Staff Nurse will coordinate diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, and care transitions.
• The Staff Nurse will collaborate closely with surgeons, cardiologists, APPs, and interdisciplinary team members. 
• The Staff Nurse will provide patient education and reinforce treatment plans and escalate any urgent clinical concerns appropriately. 

 

Minimum Requirements

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required 
• Current license as a RN in the state of North Carolina is required 
• Demonstrates competencies in nursing practice with strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compassion
• Experience in cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, or ambulatory triage is preferred
  
   

Pay Range

• Staff Nurse (outpatient) hourly range > $30.00 - $43.73
• Final compensation is determined at the offer stage. 

Other Information

• Location/Department: East Carolina Heart Institute (ECHI) - Greenville, NC (outpatient) 
• This phone triage position is an on-site full-time position (40hrs/week), Monday to Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm 
• No nights, weekends or call.
