About the role
We are seeking an experienced traffic and transport professional to lead the delivery of traffic and parking programs across the southern area of the City.
You’ll lead a team of engineers and officers in a high-volume, community-facing environment to resolve traffic, parking and access challenges. The role focuses on implementing practical, place-based solutions that improve safety, accessibility and movement across the local area, while supporting the City’s broader transport and sustainability goals.
Reporting to the Traffic Operations Manager, you’ll work across the organisation and with external agencies to deliver traffic management, parking, and road safety outcomes.
You’ll work closely with internal teams across Infrastructure Services, Customer Service, City Access & Transport, City Rangers, Parking Services, City Planning Development & Transport, Legal and Governance, Finance, and Design and Delivery teams. You’ll also work with community groups, businesses, elected officials, and state government agencies to resolve local issues and deliver improvements.
You’ll be responsible for:
- leading, coaching, and developing a team of traffic professionals to deliver high-quality outcomes
- assisting in the administration of the Local Pedestrian, Cycling, Traffic Calming and Transport Forum (LPCTCTF) and working closely with Transport for NSW and other agencies
- identifying and resolving traffic, parking and road safety issues through data analysis and practical interventions
- providing expert advice on traffic, parking and access matters, including development applications, infrastructure proposals, and policies
- coordinating and delivering traffic, parking and road safety projects and programs, including capital works and minor improvements
- managing traffic and transport aspects of major events, road closures, and construction impacts
- maintaining strong relationships with community, business and government stakeholders
- supporting budget development, program delivery, contract management and asset management activities
To succeed in this leadership role, you’ll need:
- tertiary qualifications and/or experience in transport planning, traffic engineering or a related field
- demonstrated experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, parking management, traffic calming and road safety
- ability to analyse and identify trends in traffic, parking and road safety data and develop innovative solutions to known traffic and transport-related problems
- demonstrated ability to effectively lead a multi-disciplinary, high performing team
- highly developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills as well as conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- demonstrated ability to present and lead community meetings on traffic and transport-related matters
- experience in the management of capital works projects including the setting of priorities, coordination of resources and delivery of services

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
