Director of Environmental Services – Hillcrest Highlands at Gretna Location: Gretna, NEService Line: Hillcrest Highlands at GretnaSchedule: Full-Time Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for an experienced, hands-on Director of Environmental Services to lead maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, and building operations at Hillcrest Highlands at Gretna. What You’ll Do As the Director of Environmental Services, you will oversee all maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, grounds, and environmental operations throughout the community. You will lead a hands-on team while ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, compliant, and in excellent condition. You will: Develop, implement, and manage maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry programs. Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, building systems, grounds, and general facility operations. Lead a hands-on environmental services team and provide direction, training, support, and accountability. Ensure preventive maintenance is scheduled, completed, and documented in a timely manner. Use Micromain to manage physical assets, work orders, repairs, and maintenance records. Maintain safe and proper operation of all mechanical equipment throughout the community. Plan, schedule, and supervise routine cleaning for resident areas, common spaces, laundry areas, and the overall facility. Respond to maintenance requests, including grounds and building needs. Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company standards, Life Safety Code, local regulations, state regulations, and federal requirements. Maintain records and develop action plans for opportunities identified through audits and monthly Quality Assurance meetings. Manage department payroll, budget expenditures, supplies, and operational goals. Ensure key-control logs are maintained and audited routinely. Ensure SDS sheets are current and all chemicals are properly labeled, handled, and stored. Support infection control, safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental standards throughout the community. Build positive, professional relationships with residents, families, vendors, and team members. What We’re Looking For We are looking for a practical, organized leader who can balance building operations, team leadership, regulatory compliance, and daily service needs. The right candidate will be comfortable working hands-on while also managing priorities, budgets, audits, and staff performance. Ideal candidates will have: At least one year of supervisory experience in environmental services, maintenance, housekeeping, facilities, or a related field. At least one year of HVAC experience. Experience with Life Safety Code, preventive maintenance, maintenance procedures, or regulatory compliance preferred. Experience managing maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, or facility operations in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a similar environment preferred. Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, safety practices, and preventive maintenance. Ability to manage budgets, payroll, work orders, supplies, and departmental priorities. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills. A calm, flexible, and professional approach in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and customer service. Education & Credentials High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Physical & Other Requirements Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds. Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to utilize technology and resources efficiently and effectively.
