The AR Technology Deployment (TD) Strategy and Operations (S&O) team is looking for an experienced Safety Risk Manager to be responsible for the deployment of new technologies and products in a safe, ergonomic and efficient manner in new construction as well as live sites.
This individual will partner with AR Functional, Regulatory Compliance, Hardware, Operations, WHS, and Deployment Engineers to ensure new robotic technologies and products (NPI) are safely deployed in new construction sites and/or operational Amazon buildings in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and harmonized standards. The candidate will lead risk assessments, assist in the development and review of deployment work instructions, and provide guidance on risk control measures. The individual will functionally partner with all AR engineering teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions across deployment sites and labs and be hands-on with the product and deployment teams we support.
We are looking for someone that is passionate about Safety, can author safety requirements on deployment design specifications, TD safety management system (SMS), and verification plans while engaging Operation and other cross-functional stakeholders to advance safe deployment designs from concept to scaled production including prototype, testing, validation, and certification.
Key job responsibilities
- Evaluate new products and technologies and provide guidance to engineering and development teams to allow those products to be installed/deployed safer, more ergonomically and/or more efficiently in new construction as well as live sites.
- Complete risk assessments or evaluations in accordance with ISO12100 and ANSI B11 practices
- Supporting the business to ensure compliance to local and international legislation, interpret and apply regulations, and the implementation of TD safety programs.
- Support the development and safety review of deployment work instructions, as well as developing installation and commissioning safety plans.
- Advise partner engineering organizations, WHS, and operations teams on regulations, regulatory compliance concerns, and good engineering practices relating to deployment of new technologies in Amazon sites.
- Work with various engineering teams to review and approve designs for modifications to existing technologies and custom deployment tooling.
- Managing deployment projects that require certifications that comply with local, national and international regulations.
- Have the knowledge and understanding of equipment certification requirements (CE, UL, etc.) and experience working with NRTLs.
- Ensure the integration of safety control systems during deployment of new and existing technologies, including reviewing safe lifting plans for material movement in Amazon sites.
- Contribute to building a safety culture that enables our technical engineering teams develop safe and compliant products, systems and solutions.
A day in the life
As a Safety Risk Manager, you will take a lead role in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating new products and technologies to ensure compliance with Amazon and industry safety regulations in order to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees and contractors. This role requires an effective communicator and someone to send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing and possess excellent program management skills. You need to be knowledgeable in control systems, environmental and ergonomic design principles. You must also have applied understanding of regional and international regulations, codes and standards. You will work across Amazon team to perform work task-based risk assessments and develop safety standard work in conjunction with our engineers, designers, and associates. In the event of issues or escalations you will investigate and report on situations and ensure proper actions are captured and closed out. In support of our field activities you will perform site physical condition, contractor safety observations, associate safety behavior observations, as well as audits and inspections during deployment operations.

- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Experience experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
- 5+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 6+ years of experience in safety engineering programs in manufacturing or production environment
- Knowledge and understanding of certification bodies for approvals that comply with local, national and international regulations
- Knowledge of international and EU/NA Standards such as EU Machinery Directive, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA
- Working knowledge and experience with National Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL) and Notified Bodies.
- Knowledge of the core business systems and/or broad understanding of company systems/ technologies (relevant to safety engineering)
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience with end-to-end project management
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form
- Experience working with fast-moving, high-performance teams and driving innovative solutions tailored to unique business environments
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or CSME or other functional safety certification or equivalent certification
- Experience with hoisting and rigging operations and safe lifting plans.
- Experience in the installation and commissioning of new technologies and equipment.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
