Contracts Manager - Logistics
Job Description
As a Contracts Manager, you will lead the commercial and financial performance of bulk fuel cartage contracts, spanning procurement, contract management, and performance optimisation. You will play a key role in managing transport service providers, driving value through commercial strategy, and enhancing performance across both commercial and operational teams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver against Viva Energy’s logistics commercial strategy, ensuring competitiveness and achievement of key financial objectives.
- Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle, including procurement, analysis, negotiation, execution, and ongoing performance management.
- Lead cartage tender processes, evaluating safety, operational capability, customer service, and commercial value.
- Build strong, influential relationships with internal stakeholders and external transport providers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise cost, performance, and value outcomes.
- Monitor and manage contract KPIs, ensuring alignment with operational and customer expectations.
- Provide commercial insights and reporting, supporting data-driven decision making to drive value.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of service.
- Maintain effective fleet capacity to meet both ongoing and variable demand requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve end-to-end logistics performance.
About you
You are a commercially savvy contract management professional with strong experience in logistics or transport environments.
You bring:
- Proven experience in contract management and commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of supply chain economics and logistics cost models.
- Demonstrated success in managing tender processes and awarding contracts (typically $5M–$80M pa).
- Experience working with carrier or transport providers in a logistics setting (highly desirable).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and resolve complex issues.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
