Loan Servicing Associate

DEPARTMENT: Loan Servicing

LOCATION: 341 Main Street Catskill, NY 12414

REPORTS TO: Loan Servicing Manager 

SUPERVISES: None 

GRADE: 9

PAY RANGE: $19 - $21

FLSA: Non-Exempt 


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Loan Servicing Associate services the mortgage, consumer and commercial loan portfolio. This includes data entry into the Bank’s core processing system to record new loans and modifications, processing payments and satisfactions, assisting customers with loan inquiries, monitoring escrow and analysis, inputting rate changes, processing and tracking insurance, file maintenance, and preparing written notifications. The Loan Servicing Associate provides support and assistance to the originations staff and officers of the lending department. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in business, finance or related area preferred; or equivalent experience within a financial institution, loan department or similar area
  • Minimum of 1 year of Banking experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel, and experience with Fiserv DNA preferred

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete core system file maintenance for new or modified loan accounts. 
  • Perform Quality Review of loan data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Process payments, payoffs and corrections to loan accounts. Prepare payoff statements when requested.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, both those received by phone or through the department mailbox; escalate customer problems and complaints; counsel customers with special needs or requests
  • Research public websites to obtain tax information and pay property tax bills for escrowed accounts.
  • Process hazard and flood insurance payments for escrowed accounts.
  • Complete escrow analysis for new loans; assist with annual escrow analysis process.
  • Update daily, weekly and monthly rate indexes in the core system
  • Assist with preparation of written loan servicing procedures
  • Maintain autopay payment amounts and loan rates in the core system when necessary
  • Review and prepare daily notices to customers. 
  • Maintain, track & complete processing associated with filing UCCs and DMV liens.
  • Track filing and receipt of mortgages and or title policies.
  • Prepare and file mortgage satisfactions.
  • Process returned mail for Lending. Customer outreach is sometimes required.
  • Organize loan files; ensure scanning of files is completed timely; assist with loan file retention process.
  • Sort and deliver mail for the lending building as needed.
  • Provide reliable support for other members of loan servicing, originations staff and AVP of Loan Servicing 
  • Other duties as requested

BANK SECRECY ACT (BSA)

Before assuming any duties, each employee will be trained in the proper filing and logging procedures for large currency transactions and the sale of monetary instruments.

Each employee will immediately report suspicious currency transactions or activity to their immediate supervisor or the BSA Officer.

All employees will become familiar with how their customers handle their accounts and will report any transactions that are not within the normal activities of the customer.

The employee will be trained in compliance with the BSA, USA PATRIOT ACT and associated laws and regulations under the Bank’s Compliance Program as it pertains to his or her job functions. Employees are expected to meet all compliance requirements as stated within the Bank’s BSA/AML/CIP/OFAC Program. Failure to meet these compliance standards may adversely affect performance appraisals and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employee compliance violations may result in termination, individual fines, and possible imprisonment.
