Job Description

Summary of Primary Functions: The Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems used for water, gas, steam, and other industrial processes. This role requires working from blueprints and adhering to strict safety standards to ensure systems are installed efficiently and safely on construction sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine pipe layout and installation.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand and power tools.
  • Assemble and install pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures according to project requirements.
  • Inspect and test piping systems for leaks, pressure integrity, and proper operation.
  • Install supports, hangers, and brackets for piping systems.
  • Collaborate with welders, plumbers, and other trades on-site.
  • Follow all rigging and hoisting procedures when handling heavy pipe materials.
  • Maintain tools and ensure proper storage and handling of materials.
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues or installation challenges.

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred but not required 

Certifications: 10-hour Construction OSHA Required

Experience: 

  • 4 years of directly related pipe fitting experience in an industrial setting is required
  • 1 year of Crane, Welding, Rigging, Conveyor Installation, and Theodolite experience is desirable but not required. 

Key Competencies: 

  • Proven experience as a pipefitter in construction or industrial settings.
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of pipefitting tools and equipment.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Experienced in operating equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of job site safety protocols and ability to complete company-specific safety training.
  • Demonstrates a high level  of integrity and professionalism.
  • Adept at identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Physically capable of handling tools and manipulating objects with strength and precision.
  • Skilled in coordinating tasks to ensure timely project completion.

This position is a traveling indoor/outdoor position and will continually face adverse working conditions in the field and will be exposed to dirt, noise, fumes, heat, cold, etc.
