Reporting directly to the Director of Asset Management or Designate, this position is responsible for duties related but not limited to assisting asset management staff on asset inventory and condition assessment projects related to core infrastructure assets.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the field inspection of Town assets to confirm and update GIS inventories utilizing both mobile and desktop GIS applications
- Perform condition assessment field inspections on various types of engineering assets utilizing mobile GIS applications
- Perform QA/QC duties to ensure accuracy and completeness of inventory entries
- Assist in the review and analysis of condition information to support the development of rehabilitation strategies and programs
- Apply safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Transportation Act and policies of the Corporation
- Communicate courteously with the general public and where necessary refer them to the appropriate permanent staff member
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a student enrolled in a university or community college program in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
- Familiar with computer applications such as GIS, Excel, Word and Database applications
- Survey and GPS data collection experience would be considered an asset
- Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License Class G minimum with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. Successful applicants will be required to provide the Corporation with a copy of their driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as a condition of employment. Note: The successful candidate will be required to supply their own vehicle for performing job duties/corporate business.

- Ability and willingness to work in varying climate conditions
Note: The successful applicant will be required to provide their own green patch work boots.
