The Role

As a Senior In-Situ Recovery Engineer at Hades, you will build and lead the technical foundation of our In-Situ Recovery (ISR / ISL) business line. You'll bring proven ISR expertise - most likely earned in uranium or copper - and apply it to recovering critical minerals from European deposits, including geologies that conventional ISR has not been able to reach. Part of your remit is to work with our founding team on how Hades' ultra-deep drilling technology can extend ISR into deeper and harder host rock than the sandstone-hosted operations the industry knows today.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate deposits for ISR amenability — ore-body delineation, host-rock permeability, hydrogeology, and geochemistry
  • Design wellfield layouts: injection, production, and monitoring wells, including patterns, spacing, and surface infrastructure
  • Build hydrogeological and reactive-transport models (e.g. MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC) to forecast flow, recovery, and excursion risk
  • Develop leaching strategies and lixiviant chemistry in coordination with the downstream process plant
  • Plan and engineer pilot wellfields end-to-end, from well construction through commissioning
  • Define monitoring, excursion-control, and environmental-risk strategies; support permitting and stakeholder engagement
  • Work with the founding team to integrate Hades' drilling technology into ISR and extend its reach into new geologies
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in In-Situ Recovery / In-Situ Leaching (uranium, copper, or other commodity)
  • Solid grasp of hydrogeological modelling and groundwater flow analysis (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, or equivalent)
  • Experience designing leaching strategies and wellfield-to-plant integration
  • Familiarity with wellfield planning, well design, and mechanical integrity
  • Understanding of environmental and regulatory risk for ISR projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Willingness to relocate to the greater Munich area (we provide relocation and visa support)
What sets ​you apart
  • Field experience commissioning or operating an ISR wellfield
  • Familiarity with reactive-transport and geochemical codes (PHREEQC, GoldSim, TOUGHREACT)
  • Exposure to ion exchange, solvent extraction, or precipitation processes
  • Experience adapting ISR methods to non-sandstone or unconventional host rock
  • Experiment-driven, systems-level thinking across geology and process engineering
  • Interest in emerging extraction technologies and novel drilling methods
