Job Description
Location:
Boardwalk Retirement Community (NW Calgary)
Responsibilities:
Create cycle menus and prepare with the staff tasty and nutritionally balanced meals to the residents’ satisfaction
Be attentive to residents’ needs by ensuring a regular presence in the dining room
Supervise staff during handling and preparing foods and ensure compliance with sanitation and public health as well as occupational health and safety standards
Responsible for the facilities and equipment cleanliness
Responsible for purchasing products and liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate delivery
Implement and oversee food storage and rotation activities to minimize spoilage
Manage inventories
Participate in various committees
Perform other related tasks as assigned
Experience and Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma
Certification of mandatory training in public health and sanitation, Food Handling Permit
Professional cooking certification administered by a Canadian Culinary Institute or relevant experience
5 years of experience
Knowledge of retirement homes and institutional environment is a plus
Non-Technical Requirements:
Positive leadership skills
Interpersonal skills and interest to interact with the residents
Autonomy, dynamism, versatility, multitasking and organizational skills
Varied culinary knowledge
Keen sense of customer service
Flexibility and ability to adapt
Additional Details:
On call over time required
