Job Description
This is an on-site position to own and continuously improve safety, health, environmental and quality (SHEQ) performance at the Barnsley site, partnering with site leadership and Group functions to enhance operational standards and processes.
The role will also maintain and strengthen compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, ensuring system effectiveness and audit readiness at all times. Drive the resolution of material quality issues through structured root cause analysis, ensuring timely closure and accurate financial accountability for both Avient and customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accountable for compliance with all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate EHS and related policies and procedures.
Supports management to ensure all site associates understand and comply with all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate EHS and related policies and procedures.
Supports the upkeep of equipment and facilities to ensure they are installed and maintained in compliance with all applicable regulatory, site and corporate requirements.
Ensures that all EHS reporting is completed timely and accurately. This includes Avient-required, government, agency and other reporting.
Assists in developing and maintaining safety systems, policies, and procedures for the site.
Works with the technical team in managing and approving new chemicals in accordance with the new chemical approval process.
Trains employees and management in safe practices and EHS procedures.
Supports the administration of all safety-related permit programs.
Responsible for ensuring that all waste streams are properly classified and handled.
Monitors and supports EHS standards to ensure they are met by all onsite contract services.
Work with counterparts at other sites and Group functions to improve the Barnsley site
Manage the Quality Management system for the Barnsley site
Maintain Quality Manual, prepare updates and communicate within the business appropriately.
Lead and own the site compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Assist in coordinating all aspects of onsite customer audits and facilitate request for supplier audits. Conduct improvements, follow-up summaries for management review.
Material Quality Issue resolution.
Responsible for ensuring timely resolution of all customer quality complaints through research and collaboration with Operations, Product Managers, Technical Services, Suppliers and Sales.
Promote quality knowledge, and process adherence and improvement throughout the site.
Manage the customer complaints and corrective action process. Support the assessment of acceptable level, severity, and close-rate of customer complaints and drive desired results.
Provide input and recommendations to senior leaders on how to improve quality systems and product quality.
Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience within a safety related role
Manufacturing experience
ISO experienced preferred
Experienced in the coordination of customer and supplier audits
Strong time management and organisation skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence
Adept at building relationships
Computer literate
