Why This Role Matters
The successful candidate would provide day-to-day support to the Prints Department in London, supporting the Specialists and Sale Coordinator with preparation of cataloguing, hilling and research, in addition to general every-day and administrative tasks.
How You'll Make an Impact
Conduct in-depth research on works which will be offered in the upcoming sales, sometimes involving off-site visits to external libraries in London (British Library, National Art Library and Tate Library)
Assist the specialist team in researching property for valuations
Write catalogue entries, where appropriate
Assist with expertise submissions, as required
Assist with image editing, photography and proofing, where appropriate
Liaison with internal departments, including Photography, Image Editing, Valuations and other Specialist Departments
Assist the Sale Coordinator with general administration and logistics
Prepare factsheets, images and lot cards for all sale lots
Respond to image and factsheet requests, assist specialist team and client requests during sale week
Maintain library so it remains organised/re-shelving any books that are left out at the end of each day
Responsible for collecting and distributing post, arranging couriers, sending out catalogues
Maintain stock of stationery supplies in the Department
Liaise with IT to resolve any issues with office equipment, maintain printers and paper stock
Assist Senior Specialist with expenses, where required
Other tasks as assigned by manager
What you’ll bring to the team
Keen interest/knowledge of Prints
Language skills (fluent in English and one other European language preferred)
Strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication
Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
Good research and writing skills, experience with Research Libraries is desirable
Good team worker and willingness to help out when needed
Hard working
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Ability to demonstrate client facing experience
Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (mainly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Ability to learn Christie’s systems including Canvas, JDE, intranet and website
