Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Sells, promotes, and markets natural gas services to residential and commercial builders and developers in order to maximize sales and revenue for Atlanta Gas Light.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sells to prospective customers to promote the benefits of natural gas; promotes multiple burner tips.
- Obtains customer requests for residential and/or commercial gas projects; gathers information necessary to start sales process for project (e.g., engineering scaled site plans, plat information, customer needs and/or requests); enters and maintains information into database (referred to as ARM/WMIS); ensures all information is collected and entered into the database for the next phase (Design, Engineering or Construction Operations).
- Provide information necessary to negotiate and prepare easement agreements and approvals.
- Sells to and assists with industrial customers (e.g., answers questions, gathers information, processes paperwork).
- Explains dedicated design day capacity (DDDC) calculations to customers during sales process.
- Attends sales meetings and participates in monthly conference calls.
- Attends Trade Association and Home Builders Association meetings; builds and maintains working relationships with builders and developers.
- Meets or exceeds territory and/or customer goals.
- Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by responding to customer needs, keeping customers informed and ensuring work is scheduled in an effective manner for the mutual benefit of customer and company.
- Promote the use of natural gas by communicating the benefits to the Company's existing and potential clients.
- Represent the Company at meetings by communicating Company policy, procedure and other information relative to the gas industry.
- Perform other reasonable essential functions as assigned.
- Perform ARM/WMIS tasks: plat redlines, gas load, rough proposal drawings, cost estimating, etc.
- Review and obtain contracts and customer contributions and notify internal contacts.
- Responds to customer inquiries regarding gas availability in their area; process gas-availability requests.
- Determine USF projects (AGL).
- Contact/meet with customer as necessary, including discussions regarding AGL’s process and timeframes.
- Gather field data for permitting.
- Process construction requests for residential scattered lots.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- BA/BS degree in engineering, marketing, business administration or a related field.
- In lieu of degree may substitute 3-5 years’ experience in the natural gas industry.
- Experiences should include sales, customer service, understanding gas, field operations, construction operations and rates and regulation.
Preferred:
- 2-3 years sales experience
Or
- Equivalent academic education and experience
SKILLS
Required:
- Ability to effectively sell, listen, and communicate with customers.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Organizational skills.
- Negotiation skills.
- Computer literacy - intermediate proficiency.
- Must be proficient in use of PC and multiple mainframe and software programs, including MS Office, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of city and state building and land regulations.
- Knowledge of natural gas distribution system facilities, including the OPM and Construction Manuals.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply engineering and architectural plans.
Preferred:
- Project management and experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Required:
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Perform field work tasks year-round.
- Safety sensitive.
- Travel/Driving to meet with customers.
- Frequently meet with contractors/builders at construction sites with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, atmospheric conditions such as dust, dampness, humidity.
- Keyboarding – up to 25% of time.
