JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Marketing Communications role exists to drive strategic marketing and communication initiatives that enhance the SE Health’s brand visibility, reputation, and growth across Canada. This role is responsible for developing the marketing and communication plans that align with organizational objectives, target key internal and external audiences, and deliver reach and earned media impressions. The Senior Manager owns key internal and external audiences for SE Health and collaborates across the organization to bring forward the compelling SE Health stories.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and implements comprehensive internal and external media relations strategies that align with organizational goals and drive brand equity
- Identifies trends, gathers insights and conducts media research to inform strategic planning
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints and channels
- Supports development of key industry submissions to maintain SE Health’s reputation and credibility including accreditation, awards, and advocacy
Track and reports key measures and KPIs regarding brand coverage and earned media impressions
- Oversees event budgets and timelines to optimize reach and impact
- Collaborates with internal teams to understand target audiences and build effective media campaigns
- Creates key messages that align with the brand narrative, purpose and values
Manages media relations including outreach and building proactive ongoing relationships with key internal speakers and key external news outlets, reporters and journalists
Plays a leadership role, running the SEHC.com newsroom and establishing a network for collecting, investigating and amplifying compelling stories from within SE Health
- Practices operational excellence with the digital team to ensure alignment and efficiency to gather and showcase the news in external channels
Identifies opportunities and strategic re-positioning for business lines based on insights gathered from earned media coverage and partner feedback
Leads in driving SE Health’s brand presence at external presentations and events
- Oversee the development of marketing and communication materials specific to the event audience for maximum engagement
- Partners to develop new business development communication materials
Provides media relations coaching and leadership support before and during conferences and events
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field
- Relevant certifications in Public Relations, Media Relations and/or Journalism are an asset
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Communications or Media Relations in similar complex industry – direct Health Care, Government, Non-Profit/Charity experience valuable
- Specialized knowledge in developing and executing media relations across Canada with a focus on insights/story gathering, copywriting, content development and strategic positioning.
- Experience managing a content management system to drive news content in digital channels
- Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with executive level stakeholders inside and outside the organization to shape and refine communications
Ontario based with ability to work out of SE Markham office 2-3 times per month and ability to travel to external events 2-3 times per month across Ontario and 3-4 times per year across Canada
